Who We Are

Clark Architecture Club is a student-led organization at Ed W. Clark High School dedicated to exploring the world of design, architecture, and the built environment.

We believe great design starts with curiosity. Our members learn to see the world differently — to question why a building feels the way it does, how a city block shapes daily life, and what it takes to design a space that serves its community.

Whether you want to pursue architecture in college, study urban planning, or simply love the creativity of design, there's a place for you here. No experience required.

Pillar 01

Design Thinking

We study how great designers approach problems — from sketching concepts to iterating on models and presenting finished work.

Pillar 02

Technical Skills

Hand drafting, 3D modeling with SketchUp and Tinkercad, perspective drawing, and reading architectural plans.

Pillar 03

Community Impact

We design with real context in mind — studying our Las Vegas neighborhoods and thinking about how urban design shapes communities.

Pillar 04

College & Career Prep

Guest speakers, field trips, portfolio guidance, and connections to architecture and design programs across Nevada and beyond.

Our Projects

From semester-long design challenges to quick charrettes, our members produce real work. Many of these projects are submitted to national competitions for critique and awards, while others are purely for learning and fun. Here are a few highlights from recent years — click to see more details on each project.

Design Challenge · 2024

Desert Community Center

Members designed a community gathering space adapted to Las Vegas's desert climate — passive cooling, shading, and indigenous material palettes.

Urbanism · 2024

Reimagine Sahara Ave

A street-level redesign proposal for a stretch of Sahara Avenue — wider sidewalks, transit shelters, small retail activation, and green corridors.

Model Build · 2023

Tiny House Challenge

Students designed and built 1:50 scale tiny house models under a strict 400 sq ft constraint, exploring efficiency and livability.

Adaptive Reuse · 2023

Vegas Motel Revival

Teams selected a shuttered mid-century motel along Fremont Street and proposed adaptive reuse into mixed-use affordable housing.

Sustainability · 2024

Net-Zero Clark Campus

An ongoing proposal for retrofitting Clark High School's campus with solar shading, stormwater management, and outdoor learning spaces.

Open Brief · 2024

Annual Design Showcase

Each spring, members submit independent work to our juried showcase — open to all media, scales, and design topics of personal interest.
